"Seed Bro": A Native Youth Film, Made in a Day

Fifteen Native youth wrote, shot, and edited this original short film in a single day as part of an Earth Guardians training with our Tokata Iron Eyes as one of the trainers. These young filmmakers built the story from scratch: plot structure, script, casting, production roles, shooting, and editing, start to finish, in one day.

This is a parable of hunger, a failing food bank, and one man's song and drumming calling the community back to its own power. The story and how it was made is proof of what's possible when Native youth are given the tools and the trust to tell their own stories.

It's also a preview of what Lakota People's Law Project's Fashion Art Media initiative will keep building on this August 2026, at our 3rd Annual Fashion Art Media Gathering in Santa Fe during Indian Market.
