Social Service Workers Speak Out: "Poverty is Not Neglect"

"They are taking Native children from their families."

Former social workers and a retired judge speak out about the state of South Dakota's consistent and repeated violations of the Indian Child Welfare Act. The perspective from inside the state system is an important one, and it highlights the systemic problems within South Dakota's Social Service programs.

A special thank you to Arlen Lee, Jerry Matthews, and James Cadwell for sharing their stories.
